My “Why”: The Story Behind Wellness Tools for Thriving

Welcome to Wellness Tools for Thriving. If you are interested in health and wellness, then you, like me, have probably seen countless blogs, posts, and websites on wellness tips and tools out there. I wanted to take a minute to share my story and why I created this blog.

While I have always been interested in health and wellness, my deepest personal work in it began when my Mom was diagnosed with a very rare neurological condition called Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP). This was a devastating, isolating illness, much in part due to the rare nature of it. We were told that she would live a normal life span, but four years later, she passed away from complications due to it. Five years after my Mom passed, my Dad then also passed. At that point I was put in charge of settling his affairs. This was a task I had little preparation for and lacked knowledge in. In the midst of all this, I was a busy working mom balancing work and home responsibilities. These years were some of the most challenging of my life and I needed to find ways to cope.

Wellness Tools for Thriving is a road map for the path that I followed on my healing and wellness journey. While healing is always evolving and continuing, I’m at a point where I need to stop and pause, consider how far I have come, and show gratitude for the people that have helped me on my own journey of health and wellness. I realize how fortunate I have been to find the tools and strategies I have and now I want to be able to share them with others. I hope you find something that resonates with you here. I am grateful to be able to share what has helped me feel whole.
